I successfully completed the 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021 Cape Town Cycle Tours in support of the #Move4Food campaign, to fight student hunger on our campuses. Due to the overwhelming display of camaraderie and support from our staff, students, alumni and friends of Stellenbosch University (SU), I am championing the Bridge the Gap campaign this year at the 2022 Cape Town Cycle Tour.
I will be cycling the 2022 Cape Town Cycle Tour in support of Bridge the Gap, our fundraising campaign that invites alumni, the student community, staff, parents, and friends of the University to support our students in overcoming the financial obstacles blocking their path to success. Our students are at the heart of all that we do, so each year we work with our university community to identify priority initiatives to help our students succeed. The aim of this campaign is to close the gap between talent and financial need and make a tangible difference in the lives of Stellenbosch University students.
I’m so honoured to be part of the team of caring Maties who are cycling in support of this worthy cause. Our students face numerous challenges, but a lack of financial assistance shouldn’t be one of them. This affects not only their academic results, but also affects their ability to take their place in the world of work. We want to take these barriers from our students. It doesn’t take the mountain away, but it does make climbing it easier.
I’d like encourage everyone to donate on GivenGain to my fundraising campaign for Bridge the Gap. I have been training and preparing for the big race to ensure that no Matie drops out of the academic race.
