Please help me achieve my goal of raising $15,000 for Tufts Medical Center (TMC) as a charity runner in the 127th Boston Marathon.  Read on to learn why this cause means so much to me and how your contribution can make a real difference in a largely underserved population.

As a physician, educator, and devotee of lifestyle medicine, I am aware of the top-notch specialized care provided by TMC and the high-cost resources on which it depends. From its founding as the Boston Dispensary in 1796 by Paul Revere and Samuel Adams, TMC has remained true to the “Good Samaritan” parable with ongoing commitment and innovation to the poor, needy, and the underserved. Having worked for 30 years in a similar, underserved environment in central Brooklyn at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University, I know the difference that charity and fundraising can make in the lives of patients and families.

I started running at age 56 and completed my first marathon at age 60, running in New York in 2021 as a fundraiser for the Brooklyn Free Clinic. Having finished my seventh marathon in Chicago in fall 2022 at age 64, I am eager, and honored, to run Boston on behalf of Team Tufts. My own commitment to healthy eating and personal excellence is mirrored in TMC establishing the first nutrition clinic of its kind in the world in 1918 and sustaining excellence in 2020 and beyond with a top Leapfrog Hospital Safety Rating, Magnet Recognition for nursing excellence, over 150 Boston Magazine Top Doctors, and ranking by Newsweek as one of the World’s Best Hospitals.

I could not imagine a better way to give back to patients and the community than as a Team Tufts MC Runner for a world-class institution with such a distinguished history and noble mission. Thank you in advance for your generous support of this worthy cause.
