Hello, I’m Nic. I’m a sea rescue trainee at NSRI Station 8.
On average, 355 children drown every year in South Africa, with 95% of drownings happening in fresh water. Read that again.
On the 21st April, I will be swimming an ultra-classic relay from Robben Island. Due to a trap injury, the solo crossing is not possible. It costs just R10 to put a child through the NSRI drowning prevention program and so while the swim is not what I had hoped it would be, I'm honoured to get in the water to put 1,016 children through the program.
Like my previous fundraising challenges, this is also one we get to do together. That’s the best part! I pledge my body to the cause in gratitude for you pledging your finances. As a result, there are children across the country who benefit from this beautiful gift.
So the question isn’t how much can you offer. The question is how many children can we save together?
