My Story
Hi Family & Friends:
On April 17th , Summer and I will be running in the 127th Boston Marathon (and celebrating Summers 20th birthday). Thank you for choosing to be a part of our journey! We feel privileged for the opportunity to join Team Hoyt and team up to raise $20,000 in support of The Hoyt Foundation, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to enhance the lives of the disabled community by raising awareness through education and inclusion.
The Hoyt Foundation aspires to build the individual character, self-confidence and self-esteem of America’s disabled young people through inclusion in all facets of daily life; including in family and community activities, especially sports, at home, in schools, and in the workplace.
Dick and Rick Hoyt ran their first race together — a benefit run — back in 1977. And the experience set a course for what would become a lifetime of running for the pair. “After the race, I could not wait to get to my computer to tell my father how I felt,” Rick said of his first race. “I wrote’ ‘Dad, when we are running, my disability seems to disappear.’” If you ever had the pleasure of seeing them run together, it was always inspiring and humbling.
We hope you will consider donating and we hope to see you on the course on April 17 (and at our house for a post race birthday party)
