I am so excited to be running the 128th Boston Marathon representing the Boston Bulldogs Running Club. This will be my first marathon, and I can’t think of a better cause to support during this effort. The Bulldogs support those impacted by addiction, and provide a community to support overall wellness.
I connect with this cause for many reasons. I am a veterinarian and, like many people in my profession, have struggled with my mental health throughout my career. Running has become a way to quiet my racing mind and find peace. Additionally, I have had friends and family struggle with addiction. Training for this marathon will not be easy, just as focusing on mental health and reaching recovery are not easy; however, it is my privilege to lace up my shoes in support of those who are struggling, so nobody has to walk through challenges alone.
