My Story

In the heart of Imizamo Yethu, an informal settlement on the outskirts of Hout Bay, in Cape Town, South Africa lies Ikhaya Le Themba - The Home of Hope

The community is poverty stricken and ridden with HIV&AIDS, unemployment, trauma and hardships.

Ikhaya Le Themba, a full time after school care for orphaned and vulnerable children from 6 - 12 years of age was established in 2004 to help eliminate these hardships

Parents receive parenting and skills training such as Word Works, English and computer literacy. Nutrition and food security is taught along with assistance in launching enterprises to enable parents to look after there own families.

One of these enterprises is our sewing classes which are teaching the ladies to create some beautiful products that can be sold to generate revenue and create opportunities.

I am working with these incredible ladies to continue building on our dreams and those of the residents of Imizamo Yethi and I need your help and support to raise 15000 Rand so that we can purchase some much needed sewing machines and move this project forward.

Please donate or contact me directly on 'innessmith9@gmail.com'.

Thanks in advance
