Let’s develop the next generation of conservationists. And ensure a better planet for them to look after.
Rhinos on most reserves in South Africa are constantly monitored through tracking collars, which need to be replaced fairly regularly, which is often funded by tourism. I felt the absence of tourism while devestaing on many fronts, has offered an opportunity to give youngsters from the area who had shown interest in conservation, the opportunity to be involved in a rhino collaring procedure, and to fly in a helicopter! And then let people get involved by funding the costs to change the collar.
If we only cover this one collar that will be great - but I'd love to get Siseko qualified with his Remote Pilots Licence and working with drones on the reserve AND train and equip Zolani to launch an Amakhala Drone Club AND make sure conservation continues even with no visitors.
If we succeed, Siseko will be able to do required conservation work efficiently, and we can fund a cool job for Zolani - who will inspire some of the students to get into conservation, drones and coding. With more support we can then assist top candidates to follow their inspiration and also become examples for youngsters growing up behind them. A generation, who to be completely frank - are in desperate need of inspiration and hope. A little help from you can go a long way to change someone else's life, and the world around them.
