I am absolutely thrilled to run for Team Hoyt in the NYC Marathon 2023! When I am running I feel invincible, like I’m flying, and that nothing can stop me. It's a feeling that I wish everyone could experience. It has been noted that Rick Hoyt told his father after their first road race together that running made him feel like he was “not handicapped”. I am beyond grateful to raise funds for this incredible organization that will bring Rick’s feelings to others so they, too, can feel like they are not handicapped and they, too, can feel like they are flying. As a profession, I am a landscape architect. It is our mission to provide outdoor spaces for people to enjoy while gathering, reflecting, exercising, playing, and relaxing. It is imperative that all spaces are created for every person, no matter their physical ability. Being given this wonderful opportunity to engage with the Hoyt family, and their foundation’s mission, I look forward to gaining exceptional knowledge to reinforce my understanding of improved methods for creating spaces of equality and inclusion. When I run the 2023 NYC Marathon I will be bringing the Hoyt spirit, inclusivity, enthusiasm, tenacity and pride along with me!
