Since completing my first (and only Comrades) in 2008, wherein I had an amazing opportunity to raise funds for the New Jerusalem Children's Home (NJCH) in Midrand, I have always held the belief that it is a privilege that many of us have that we get to participate in sporting events and while many people do it for their own good reasons, goals andaccomplishments, there are many others who for various reasons cannot participate in such sporting events. My experience raising funds for the NJCH was life changing and something I hadn't even planned on doing. But the joy it brought me when people got involved and showed me the support I needed to run the Comrades was unreal and since then I have always tried to get involved in worthy causes whenever I participate in a sports event.
Over the last 12 months, 3 people I worked with passed away due to cancer and others I know are busy fighting this terrible disease. Through my company's annual sponsorship of the CANSA/ Hollard Daredevil Speedo Run, I have met some amazing people who are passionate about raising awareness and helping those in need fight cancer. So this year, as I attempt to complete my 4th Amashova Durban Classic cycle race, I would appreciate the support from anyone who is passionate about supporting a great and worthy cause in the fight against cancer.
I am pledging R500 towards this year's race and my goal is to exceed R5,000. So please get involved and hopefully we can make a difference to those who need the help.
Thanks so much for your support!
