As an Occupational Therapist, I see people defy odds on a daily basis. To look someone in the eye and tell them that I believe in them is something that drives me to keep going through the tough times this pandemic has brought about our world. I am continually inspired by people that despite the world's view of their disabilities (both mental and physical), race, socioeconomic status shock the world with their goals that they attain.
And most time when you look at someone that has achieved a goal whether it be making it to the Olympics or taking their first step post surgery there is usually a team of people behind the scenes that are the ones that got them through. I am so honored and humbled to be chosen to run and represent Team Hoyt for the Boston Marathon. The Team Hoyt foundation enhances the lives and mobility of people with disabilities. Its donations are used to promote the integration, inclusion, and acceptance of people with all types of disabilities and their families into every aspect of society.
I have dreamed about running in the Boston Marathon but always told myself it wasn't in the cards. But I decided I am going to defy the odds that I have only truly set on myself. $8500 is a lofty goal to make before April 18, 2022 but if my patients can day in and day out try their best and put in the work for independence with the "small" tasks of every day life, I know I can put in the work to raise the funds for Team Hoyt. Boston 2022 here we come! Join me!
