My Story
I have committed to running the 126th Boston Marathon to raise money for an amazing charity; the Joe Andruzzi Foundation!
What sets the JAF apart from countless other amazing charitable organizations is how their Financial Assistance Program supports patients. The charity focuses on supporting cancer patients and their families by "protecting a weak spot" by providing grants to assist with mortgage/rent, utilities, and other household expenses that do not just go on hold due to a diagnosis. The grant supports patients of any age with any type of cancer and I feel THAT. IS. HUGE. - because cancer doesn't discriminate!
We all have our "why" when we decide to commit to a challenge like running the Boston Marathon. I have several "whys" - and they come in the form of family members, friends, former classmates, and coworkers who have all taken on, or supported their loved ones in battling cancer. Especially close to my heart is my Aunt Kathy, whom has courageously battled Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) for a number of years. From her experience, I know how much of a difference JAF can make for a family like hers. The determination, positive attitude, and desire to live despite challenging circumstances exhibited by my Aunt Kathy is truly an inspiration!
Looking ahead, I have a lot of miles in my future -- both on the road, and in terms of fundraising. If you're able to support this great cause, I would really appreciate it!
