Welcome to my BOSTON MARATHON journey! Once again,I'm running alongside Team Framingham, and raising money for United Way Call 2 Talk, an invaluable mental health resource.
Most people have been affected by mental illness at some point in their lifetime. As an Emergency Department physician at MetroWest Medical Center in my hometown of Framingham, I see the imact that mental health has on my own community on a daily basis. I have also seen the shortcomings in healthcare, and the limited resources that are available to these individuals. When mental illness goes unaddressed, the end result can be devastating. Call 2 Talk offers an easily accessible - and often life saving - resource in times of crisis. Call2Talk is a mental health, emotional support, and suicide prevention program in Framingham. It is a direct service program operated by the United Way of Tri-County.- Steady increase in callers ages 10-15 - Growing volume of conversations by text - Consistent increase in calls year over year - Outreach and education in Framingham schools about risk factors, warning signs, and how to help someone in crisis - Promotion of texting services to teens and young adults Call2Talk offers suicide prevention, intervention, and postvention services to anyone in need.
