I am running another marathon for
Shooting Touch -- this time in Boston for the 125th Edition of the Boston Marathon.
The bottom line up front is that I am raising $10,000 for the organization's
Boston and Rwandan programs after a tough year of COVID-related setbacks and I need the help of my friends, family, and broader social networks.
Whether you want to increase access to life-saving medical treatment, or provide opportunities for young women in Dorchester to participate in sports programs that ultimately will boost their self-esteem, confidence, and life trajectories, Shooting Touch has ways for you to make a difference. Details below:
$6,000 will be used to assist 1,500 people I used to train and teach in Rwanda with obtaining
Mutuelle - community-based
health insurance. $4 will cover one person's enrollment for one year and with the slower roll-out of COVID vaccines in countries like Rwanda, being able to provide Mutuelle to our program participants will be more important now than ever.
The other $4,000 will be put towards the Boston program and making more stories like
Christina's, possible. The
AAU The Right Way program has made measurable impacts on the lives of the 45 young women who have participated in the program, including Christina, by combatting the "pay-to-play" trends we've seen in competitive youth sport and providing on- and off-court development programs for talented players, regardless of their financial status.
Thank you in advance for your help!
