My Story
In support of the Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA), a group of cyclists from Johannesburg will be cycling from Port Elizabeth to Cape Town to raise funds as part of CANSA’s 90th anniversary celebrations in 2021, while creating awareness around children’s cancers.
An average of 800 to 1 000 children are newly diagnosed with cancer annually in South Africa. It is estimated that at least half of all children with cancer in South Africa are never diagnosed. Two thirds of children with cancer never reach a specialist treatment centre for treatment in South Africa.

The planned event coincides with the Cape Argus Cycle Tour on 14 March 2021. The group of cyclists’ plans to leave Port Elizabeth on 6 March 2021 and will arrive in Cape Town on 12 March 2021, cycling over a period of 7 days. The cyclists will be cycling an average of 123km a day and a total of 861 km over the 7 days.

Riders will then donate children’s items on Saturday, 13 March 2021 to the CANSA TLC ward at Tygerburg Hospital and participate in the Cape Town Cycle Tour (109km) on Sunday 14 March 2021.

If your company can support us in anyway it would be highly appreciated. Please note that CANSA will be able to issue you with a Section 18A Tax Certificate for all donations received.
