My Story

Everesting is a concept in cycling which requires the participant to ride up and down the same hill until they have ascended the same height of Mount Everest (8848m) in one session. Breaks are allowed and the participant can take as long as they need however no sleeping is allowed. We have chosen De Beer's Pass in Kwazulu Natal to attempt this feat on our Qhubeka Buffalo bikes, 25kg steel frame rigid workhorse bicycles. The attempt is set for 14 January 2017. We aim to raise money for Qhubeka to help put children on bicycles, which has many positive effects on education and in the long term, employment and entrepreneurship.

Colin and Bianca have previously cycled on their Buffalo bicycles 300km in 24 hours, completed the 9 Peaks Challenge (3000km of cycling) and done lots of minor events in between. Colin recently cycled across Europe 5000km on an unsupported bicycle tour on his Buffalo.
