As a physical therapist, I am extremely passionate about the importance of inclusivity and providing equal opportunities for all. On April 18th, 2022 I will be running in the 126th Boston Marathon as a member of Team Hoyt. Team Hoyt originated in 1977 when Rick Hoyt asked his father, Dick Hoyt, to push his wheelchair in a 5-mile charity run. After the race, Rick told his father, “Dad, when I’m running, it feels like I’m not handicapped.” This was the beginning of an inspiring journey which led to over 1,000 races completed by this unstoppable duo. Today, The Hoyt Foundation’s mission aspires to build the individual character, self-confidence and self-esteem of America’s disabled young people through inclusion in all facets of daily life; including in family and community activities, especially sports, at home, in schools, and in the workplace. For years the Hoyt Foundation has generously supported various organizations with shared values such as Easterseals. I have had the pleasure of working for easterseals for almost 4 years and I am inspired daily by our team's dedication to ensure that children and adults with disabilities have equal opportunities to live, learn, work and play. The Hoyt family has inspired people across the world to not let their diagnosis define them. They have also personally inspired me to push to new limits and to be a part of something bigger than myself. So here I am! If you are able to help support me in raising money and awareness for this cause, please do so by leaving a donation here. No amount is too small and every contribution will help us make a difference!
