Another year and another Cow challenge. I have the privilege to again be riding to raise money for CHOC (children with Cancer). This year I am upping the stakes. I will be doing two events to inspire as many as I can to give towards this very worthy cause.
1. The first event is a cycling tour from Pretoria to Durban from 16-21 Oct. Yes - I rode to Pietermaritzburg over 4 days (650km). We then joined the rest of the Cows to do the "Amashova", another 106km. I did this with my 80 year-old-dad, my brother-in-law Franci and 9 other friends from my dad's cycling group.
2. I will be riding with the "Apocalypse Cows" in the Telkom 947 Cycle Challenge on 19 Nov. No more ice-cream bike but now I need to gear up for a double lap of the 94.7km course. The second lap will be to help those ice-cream bikes to get home.
Firstly – thanks again to all of you who gave so generously last year towards this worthy cause of CHOC, the Childhood Cancer Foundation for SA. Last year I was the top individual fundraiser for CHOC, after coming second three years in a row! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!
With my cancer even further behind me, this event serves as a huge reminder of the blessing it is to be alive, to ride and to raise this money. If in the process, I can assist young children in their brave fight against cancer, then I will indeed take up the challenge again. I would like to ask you to consider sponsoring me for these two crazy rides this year and to give generously towards this worthy cause.
As usual, I will be riding in honour of specific people whose names I will carry with me on the ride. If you would like to add any names to the lists of “Keep fighting”, “In memory of” or “Cancer survivor” I will gladly include them!
