My involvement with YES has been centered on building up youth's confidence by challenging them in the outdoors. Many kids in Boston do not have access to the wonders of the outdoors and that just bugs me. The outdoors molded me from a scrawny, hyperactive kid into an open-minded and resilient individual. I believe exposure to the outdoors can do the same to any youth who is given an opportunity.
