My Story
Babsie, as she is known in the Hoyt running community, is kind and beautiful and faithful and strong. She has taken quite a bit of hits in her 77 years of life and yet still manages to smile every day. Babsie contracted Multiple Sclerosis at the early age of 38 years old. The road has been bumpy right up until seven years ago when our lives were changed forever. Seven years ago, I was watching a friend compete in a triathlon and I saw a boat. It was that simple... a boat. This was no ordinary boat but the boat belonged to the ever-famous, ever-inspirational Team Hoyt. That miraculous day and that life saving boat, led my mother and me on a journey of renewed life and love and racing. Since that fateful day, we have been racing together in 5ks, 10ks, half marathons, marathons, triathlons, charity bike rides and one amazing ascent up Mt. Washington as a Team Hoyt Duo - Yes You Can.Babsie and I are proud to race this year in the 125th Boston Marathon as a tribute to Dick and Rick for all they have done to widen the doors of inclusion so we can participate in so many events like this. We are blessed to be a part of the Team Hoyt family and we will be filled with so many emotions on race day as we honor and remember Dick Hoyt, a man that changed the direction of our lives. Team Babsie 2020Please consider making a donation to our fundraising efforts for the Hoyt Foundation. Thank you - Team Babsie
