In 2013 I was diagnosed with Chiari Malformation, a neurological condition in which brain tissue extends into the spinal canal. It occurs when part of the skull is misshapen or smaller than is typical, pressing on the brain and forcing it downward. For years, my condition affected the quality of my life severely. Whenever I would do activities that increased the pressure inside of my brain, such as laughing too hard, I suffered severe, debilitating headaches.
On February 1, 2021, I underwent my second brain surgery at Tufts Medical Center. Dr. Kryzanski and his team have allowed me to live pain free for the first time in over a decade. I'm eternally grateful for Tufts Medical Center and excited to challenge myself to run 26.2 miles and raise $7500 to spread awareness of invisible illnesses and the world-class healthcare that Tufts provides.
