In a speech titled, “Doesn’t everyone deserve a chance at a good life”, former president of the World Bank, Jim Yong Kim famously asked a question to the audience, “Given our ridiculously elaborate educations, what is the nature of our responsibility to the world?”
My name is Dan Meyer and together with Ashley Verhulp, we believe at the heart of our ethos, that everyone does deserve that chance at a good life. We found ourselves asking what the nature of our personal responsibilities to the world was…? After much introspective reflection and hours of discussion, we found a simple answer to our question – We both love making people smile!
With Ashley managing this campaign in the background, I, Dan, have instead decided to up the ante on what I believe in and make the biggest difference I have to date. I am terrible with directions and while I can’t speak any foreign languages, In July 2022, I will be riding my bicycle solo, across Europe to raise funds and awareness for Operation Smile, South Africa.
Starting in Copenhagen, Denmark, I will be saddled to my bicycle, and along with my minimalistic necessities, aim to cover a distance of 100km a day, 5 days a week. 6 weeks and 3000km later, with all sort of pains, I will arrive in Rome where my journey will end.
Please help us change the lives of underprivileged children born with Cleft Palate's and get them the surgery they need!
Be the change that allows these children to life a life with their dignity intact.
