Hi, I am Art Dion, a marathon runner from the USA and passionate about making our world a better place. My goal is to run all 7 continents and raise over $200k for various charities this year. I’m teaming up with Uthando SA to run the 42.2km Sanlam Cape Town Marathon on 16 October and to raise much-needed funds for one of their most inspiring charitable projects, Christel House South Africa.

Christel House SA’s mission is to break the cycle of poverty. They enroll more than 1 000 students all from Cape Town’s Cape Flats area on a 100% sponsored scholarship model and provide them with everything they need to succeed, including daily transport, health care, nutritious meals, uniforms, psychosocial support and career planning. Since 2001, this non-profit school has produced engineers, lawyers and social workers who all make life better for others. They are truly inspirational and were handpicked as a priority project of Uthando, a responsible tourism initiative.

As the saying goes: you can’t teach a hungry child. So, help me raise at least $50 000 for this school. Every cent will be used to fuel the enquiring minds of the students. Each day children receive a cooked breakfast and lunch with two nutritious snacks in-between. For some, it’s the only food they will receive all day. For just $1 you will feed a child for a day.
