My Story

*Date: December 2018

*Time: 09:00
Route: Robben Island – Blouberg Beach (7.5km)

*weather dependant

This will be her maiden voyage of the challenge considered the "Everest" to every open water swimmer in South Africa.

We are honoured and privileged to have a person with a heart of gold and the will power of steel (together with a gruelling training programme) take on the challenge of the Robben Island Crossing.

She will be joined by Angi Nell who is an incredible swimmer and will be Nina's crossing partner.

The notorious Robben Island crossing is from Robben Island to Blouberg Beach. It is a distance of 7.5km in icy water with infamous currents and abundant wildlife.

Not only is she raising funds for MS, the month of May is also MS Awareness Month (in SA and Europe) and this will be a wonderful way to raise awareness for this potentially debilitating condition.

What is MS?

Multiple sclerosis, an unpredictable, often disabling disease of the central nervous system, interrupts the flow of information within the brain, and between the brain and body.

Symptoms range from numbness and tingling to blindness and paralysis

The progress, severity and specific symptoms of MS in any one person cannot yet be predicted, but advances in research and treatment are moving us closer to a world free of MS.

Support Nina by donating to the cause and make her journey meaningful to her and many others.
