I have been dreaming of testing my personal limits to the extreme and have decided to climb the 4th highest summit in the world – Kilimanjaro. Kilimanjaro is the highest peak on the African continent and is 5,895m (19,341 feet) above sea level. I have dreamt of doing something wild that will test my physical and mental strength, and up until now, I did not have the opportunity to realise this dream. In August (9-16) 2017, this dream will become reality when I plan on taking the 7 day journey to the summit of Kili. With that being said, instead of just making this about personal gain, for the first time a special initiative is being raised through the Cancer Association of South Africa foundation as a tribute to the people that have either lost their battle, or are still battling with Cancer……..

I have lost 7 family members to cancer, most recently my mother. Her battle against this dreaded disease lasted for 8 years which is testimony that this disease can be beaten...I will be climbing Kili this year in the hope of increasing awareness for the Cancer Association South Africa. CANSA is currently doing fantastic work in various communities and providing service such as patient support forum / services; support groups; as well as counselling for patients and their families. The Cancer Association SA has created various forums that educates our children about being healthy and aware of cancer. Services such as these are voluntarily, but does however in some cases cost money in order to operationalise. For those of you that have lost loved ones, or that have loved ones in treatment can understand the pain that this disease can cause. Please help me, to help the Cancer Association SA try to create a better world without cancer. Your contribution is for a worthy cause and will be highly appreciated in saving lives!
