The Boston Marathon connects eight Massachusetts cities and towns with the world in the spirit of competition, camaraderie and community. As the world’s oldest annual marathon, the Boston Marathon brings everyday athletes, many of whom are connected to extraordinary causes, to the same road as professional, world-class athletes. Together, inspired by the strength and courage of the individuals they run with --and run for-- these athletes embody the power of the human spirit.
