Climbing the Literacy Ladder
It is desponding to open the newspaper and read about the world we really live in. Each time I read or hear about a rape, murder or violent incident I am reminded of Edward James Olmos, who said that “Education is a vaccine for violence.”
The Los Angeles Times reported that “No skill is more crucial to the future of a child, or to a democratic and prosperous society, than literacy.”
I am inspired to make a difference in this world, and I am starting with Cape Town.
Your contribution of R130 will grant a child in an informal settlement on the border of Mitchell's Plain, Cape Town access to a world class literacy programme. The programme is part of a holistic development project for the children of Kosovo and will access at least 500 children each year!
