Operational Costs for provision of Palliative Care
Arebaokeng Hospice would like to raise funds to continue to provide much needed Palliative Care (an approach that improve the quality of life of patients and their families facing problems associated with life-threatening illness, through prevention of suffering, the early identification and impeccable assessment and treatment of pain and other problems, physical, psychosocial and spiritual) service to the community of Tembisa and surrounding areas who are affected and infected by HIV/AIDS, cancer and other chronic illnesses.
We currently provide the following services:
- Primary Health Care
(Direct observation of treatment for patients with tubercurlosis, Advising pregnant women who have not yet booked for antenatal care to do so and to explain the importance thereof, Door-to-door visits educating the community about HIV/AIDS, TB , Sexually Transmitted Diseases, identifying health and social problems in households and referring to relevant resources)
- Home Based Care
(Basic Nursing Care for terminally ill patients, Support for patients and families, Teaching primary caregivers(family)nursing procedures, Counselling)
- Palliative Care
(Pain and symptoms management, Terminal Care, Respite Care (giving primary carers i.e. family members a break from nursing a terminally ill patient by taking away the patient from home to In-Patient Unit for a certain period until the family has re-energised)
