3 Days to go! Doing RideJoburg (947 Cycle Challenge) and raising funds for Qhubeka
So this is a little late but things have been a bit hectic. And Bridget has got out way ahead of me. But I'm riding my 7th RideJoburg/947/Cycle Challenge this year and want to help out Qhubeka a little bit. I'm not looking for millions but every little bit counts towards getting kids on bikes and helping them get a better education. Even if it's just R50 it all goes towards an amazing cause. If you can, please donate to my fundraising project on GivenGain!

The backwards 947
This will be my second slowest 947 (my slowest was 8 hours) training has been minimal and I'm likely to suffer but I'm going to do it anyway. I'm hoping to get to R3,000 before 18 November. Lets see if we can pull this off.

Riding for kids with Cancer
Every year we (The Cows) get on our bikes to show support and raise money for CHOC. This year I am going to ride Amashova (106 km from Pietermarritzburg to Durban) and the 947 (94.7km up and down the hills of Jo'burg) for The Cows and CHOC. If I meet my fundraising target before either of the races I will ride the race in the full COW suit (as opposed to the Cow cycling kit). CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundation is a country wide voluntary organisation. It brings together the parents of children who suffer from all varieties of cancer or life threatening blood disorders.

Riding bikes for kids fighting Cancer
Last year I did the 94.7 Cycle challenge for CHOC and ended up pushing an ice-cream bike around the course. It took us 8 hours but we did it, and raised some cash for CHOC. This year I'm upping the ante. Armed with a (second-hand) road bike and a bit more fitness I am doubling down on the races and doing two (roughly) 100km races in order to raise money. The first is the Amashova 106km from Pietermaritzburg to Durban. The second is the 94.7 Cycle Challenge around Jo'burg. I haven't set myself any target times for either of these but it is going to be a lot faster than 8 hours for the 94.7. I hope my friends and family will come to the party and give as generously as last year. For those that don't know CHOC you can head over here, but the short version is that they provide holistic support for children suffering from cancer and life-threatening blood disorders as well as their families. See you all at the finish. Ben
