1000 Women Trust is a registered Trust in South Africa (IT738/2014) and a Non-Profit Organisation (NPO 163-132). The organisation evolved to not just raise awareness and inspire women, but to strengthen women-led initiatives across the country that work tirelessly to bring hope, protection and knowledge to women living in abusive relationships.Over the past 14 years, we have engaged with over 900 formal and informal organisations working directly with women and girls on issues related to gender-based violence and human rights. We have successfully activated women in the Western Cape, Mpumalanga, Limpopo, KwaZulu Natal, Gauteng, Northern Cape
The 1000 Women Trust responded immediate to the Covid – 19 pandemic with the following:
a. Equip staff members and volunteer with computers, airtime and DATA to enable them to work from home. We also circulated our groups with patterns and fabric to start making mask for the community. We share hygiene rules and social distancing training material. We organised a Whatsup group of 116 organisations that are all communicating, motivating and helping,
b. We support 45 Community Based Organisations in vulnerable communities to provide food, cleaning products and mask to the communities. Some shops need mask to be worn.
c. Gender Based Violence is our main focus. WE provide support, counselling, video training and information sharing on all our platforms. The proposal is attached.
We need your support to Feed our communities and provide support to survivors of GBV!
