"Your real job is that if you are free, you need to free somebody else. If you have some power, then your job is to empower somebody else." ~ Toni Morrison

Calling all family, friends, colleagues, students and people who want to make change!

When we make space for personal growth, we can change the landscape of own lives.  When we make space for others, we can change the landscape of the world. Liliane Delacour, Elisabete Dos Santos de Sousa and I (Veronica Ellis) are embarking on an intentional journey for both.

On 29 August, we will start our walk of the Camino de Santiago, the Way of St James pilgrimage over a period of 30 days and spanning a distance of 700 km across Spain to Santiago

Through this journey we seek to: grow spiritually; and raise funds to repair informal homes for orphaned and vulnerable children in South Africa through Habitat for Humanity SA.

Approximately 13.1% of households live in informal settlements in South Africa. Khayelitsha, just one of the many settlements, has a population of 400 000 residents. Reliable estimates suggest that as many as 14 000 orphans live in Khayelitsha in the Western Cape.

Child-headed households are at risk of having to cope without parental care or regular income and are located in areas where services are poor. In addition, this vulnerable group has to deal with emotional strain and is more likely to be abused and exploited.

In partnership with Baphumelele Children's Home, Habitat for Humanity SA are currently formalising their OVC Programme. The objectives include: critical shelter repairs, administration support, skills empowerment, health and career guidance; as well as evidence-based documentation for advocacy purposes.

You can help us change the landscape of South Africa by donating funds and reposting this campaign to create awareness of the Habitat for Humanity SA OVC project.

100% of all donations will go towards Habitat for Humanity SA.
