Gugu passed away climbing Kilimanjaro in 2016, and in 2017 Letshego honoured his memory by conquering the mountain during the annual Trek4Mandela Corporate Expedition. Now, on 13 July 2018 she will plant trees in his honour on the slopes of Kilimanjaro with the hope that these will be a living legacy of all life and hope he brought to those who knew him.
Trees are living legacies, unlike flowers that wilt and die and are thrown away, trees that are nurtured and can grow to provide fruit, shade, water, nourishment to the communities in which the grow. Trees are a gift that keeps on giving. They are reminders of life!
Gugu touched so many lives when he was alive and through this life long project, will continue to touch many more. We will also set up a nursery in Kilimanjaro in his name that will keep producing trees for years to come.
Tuje Pamoja - let us come together, and honour the life of Gugu Zulu, and make the world a better place.
