The Link Literacy and Numeracy Project

The Link aims to equip children from disadvantaged backgrounds with core literacy and maths skills. We are a volunteer based, registered public benefit organisation. Currently we operate in 20 low income schools in the greater Johannesburg area.

Children need to be able to read and to be given a foundation in English and Maths in order to have any chance of making their way through the education system. Many of our children live in an environment where the odds are heavily stacked against them, and there is very little opportunity for them to have any help in developing and improving these core skills. We would like to continue to support and grow our existing centres and to open additional centres in order to reach more children in need. Together we have the potential to change the course of children’s lives, to give them the tools to succeed and the confidence to feel that they can.

We are registered as a Tax Exempt Public Benefit Organisation, with Section 18A status. We can issue South African tax payers with a Section 18A receipt for tax deductible donations.
