These past weeks have been a challenging time for us all as we traverse this ‘new normal’ as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. Our SU community has been rallying in response: our Food Science researchers turned stale bread into hand sanitiser; hundreds of Tygermaties volunteered to serve on the frontline; and 45 multidisciplinary coronavirus-related research projects and activities are unfolding in various environments across the University.
We find this so inspiring! And wish to continue moving forward together as we negotiate this unprecedented pandemic. Huge challenges remain whilst new opportunities lie ahead of us. As we move forward, your ongoing support and contributions will become increasingly vital to help us make a significant impact on society. Die afgelope weke is vir ons almal ‘n uitdagende tyd met die ‘nuwe normaal’ waaraan ons probeer gewoond raak as gevolg van die Covid-19 pandemie. Ons US gemeenskap het reeds daadwerklik hierop gereageer: ons Voedselwetenskapnavorsers het muwwe brood in handreiniger omskep; honderde Tygermaties dien as vrywilligers aan die voorfront; en 45 multidissiplinêre Koronavirus-verwante navorsingsprojekte en -aktiwiteite is tans in ontwikkeling in verskeie terreine regoor die Universiteit.
Ons vind dit werklik inspirerend! En ons wil as ‘n span vorentoe beweeg terwyl ons hierdie ongekende pandemie te bowe probeer kom. Daar is steeds groot uitdagings terwyl nuwe geleenthede geskep word. Jou voortgesette ondersteuning en bydraes sal al hoe meer noodsaaklik raak soos ons vorentoe beweeg en ons help om ‘n beduidende impak op die gemeenskap te maak. Die Universiteit Stellenbosch (US) het gevolglik vyf areas geïdentifiseer waar ons, met jou hulp, ‘n verskil kan maak.
