PAWS runs 2 no-kill shelters and low-cost veterinary clinics on the island of Mauritius. The 2 consecutive years of pandemic and lockdowns have hit us hard. Finding ourselves with no vets since May 2021, means we can no longer offer affordable veterinary care to those pet owners who need it the most, and at a time where people are losing their jobs and purchasing power.
We have tried finding local vets willing to work for a charity full-time or even part-time to no avail. And the requests for help are pouring in from pet owners or rescuers desperate to get their pets/strays sterilised or needing treatment but not having enough funds to cover the expenses in other private veterinary clinics.
We are recruiting a veterinary from abroad but we badly need your help to cover the cost of the airline ticket and administrative costs. We have fortunately been able to find a hotel who is sponsoring the cost of quarantine (compulsory on entrance in Mauritius).
Please help us get our new vet here so we can carry on our work. Our new vet has years of experience in the sterilisation/spaying of dogs and cats and will make a huge difference in alleviating the plight of unwanted animals in Mauritius.
Thank you for your suppawt !
