As many have seen, the shelter flooded after the severe cold front and rains in Cape Town this past winter. We evacuated many of the animals, who were all safely placed in foster care. The flooding has subsequently caused some structural damage to several dog camps and one of the catteries, as well as concerns for the winters to come. In July 2020 we launched our new campaign, ONE IN A MILLION, which will assist us in raising enough funds to rebuild our shelter.
Our aim is to get one million people to donate as little as R1, and as the funds come in they will be allocated towards rebuilding the shelter.
After having launched the Buy-a-Brick campaign in 2018, we managed to raise enough funds to pay the deposit for the procurement of the property. Now that the property is secure, we can build permanent structures and follow our dream by building an on-premise clinic and charity shop so that we can continue to assist more animals.
We have been humbled by the help of the community, the public as well as our neighbouring farmers who have assisted us with fixing the damage, fostering our animals from the affected areas, as well as bringing donations. We have faith in our supporters and know that we can make this campaign a success.
It only takes as little as R1!
