Join LvA on 22 July 2018 at the MTN Walk the Talk with 702 to raise awareness and funds for the fight against gender-based violence. There’s something for everyone with 5km, 8km, and 15km options!
It is well known that levels of violence against women and children in South Africa are staggeringly high. In some communities, experiencing violence is the norm and not the exception. In Diepsloot, the informal settlement where LvA works, more than 50% of men surveyed have committed violence against a woman in the previous year. Tragically, most victims of violence have no one to turn to for help.
LvA provides free legal services and trauma counseling to victims of domestic violence, sexual violence and child abuse in Diepsloot. LvA assists clients in obtaining protection orders, provides support in criminal cases of rape and assault, and ensures the police and courts are responsive to victims' needs. LvA also attends to victims' emotional and psychological needs through individual and group trauma counseling and therapy.Join LvA to unite against rape & abuse - raise awareness and funds for this important issue and ensure that no victim ever has to walk alone!
But we can't do it alone! Join us by registering for the walk and becoming an LvA Activist to raise additional funds and awareness among your family, friends, and colleagues. Every donation helps ensure that we continue providing these critical services to victims of violence and abuse. Help us take a stand against gender-based violence in South Africa.
