The two lions rescued from war-torn zoos in Mosul and Aleppo, are now in their forever home at our LIONSROCK Big Cat Sanctuary & Lodge.
Only with the partnership and loyal support from donors, like yourself, will they find their peace in the South African sun, hoping to forget their horrible pasts.
Simba was born in the Montazah Al-Morour Zoo in Eastern Mosul in Iraq, in 2014 during the war. Together with a bear named Lula. Saeed was born in the Magic World Zoo near Aleppo in Syria in 2016. He was one of 13 animals that FOUR PAWS rescued from the war-torn zoo in July 2017. After being rescued they were both transported to Al Ma'wa, a sanctuary in Jordan, to recover.
On 26 February both Simba and Saeed were released into their new adaptive enclosure at LIONSROCK in Bethlehem, South Africa where they will live out the rest of their lives.
Help us to give them the future they deserve!
