Children who grow up without grandparents or not having the opportunity to interact with their grandparents cannot share the fond childhood memories of having grandparents that watch over them at all times.
Other destitute children in high risk social and economic conditions, for example, those that are poverty stricken and / or homeless, and even those fortunate enough to be in an orphanage also yearn for the love, compassion and support of a grandparent. With our Granny Programme at Jo’burg Child Welfare which was adopted from Spence Chapin and implemented from 2011, we allow “Grannies” ‘gogos’ from the local community to spend quality time with children at the centre. These AMAZING gogos provide much-needed nurturing to the children, helping them to acquire the skills to form the positive social attachments that are key to early childhood development.
Please support us as we continue raising funds for children in our care so that they can be well catered for. also Visit our website www.joburgchildwelfare.org.za and follow us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/joburgchildwelfare
