Rainbow Educare (established in 1996), is in a particularly economically depressed township community in Khayelitsha, Cape Town and offers early childhood development services to 163 local children. Recently, the centre was targeted by criminals, and the principal, Busisiwe Mehlomakhulu, was stabbed during the robbery. In spite of this, she continues to offer this much-needed service to the community and remains dedicated to the children in her care.
The educational curriculum at the centre is supported by Ikamva Labantu, a local non-profit development organisation and their staff are all trained in early childhood development. Your gift will enable us to purchase stationery and craft supplies to assist the educators to implement the curriculum properly – giving the children a solid educational foundation.
