The Global Teachers Institute (GTI) is excited to celebrate its 5th Year Anniversary and invites you to join our annual fundraising campaign to help Fund The Future, our aspiring teachers. With your help, we will continue to provide wrap-around support to enable the Future Leaders to grow and develop into future-proofed teachers, ready for the demands of the classroom and broader school environment and, in turn, future-proof our learners.
GTI’s aspiring teachers grow in confidence and progress in developing a wide array of teaching skills, including time management, differentiation and using technology in the classroom. The Future Leaders attend weekly Professional Development Workshops where they reflect on their teaching observations and experiences, learn new skills and receive academic support from their peers and GTI staff.
Their social responsibility projects include collecting and distributing sanitary towels for female learners in need, imparting knowledge about menstrual hygiene, and creating a safe space for learners to ask questions and share their concerns and challenges in this regard. Other projects include extra maths and reading classes, after-school homework support for learners, sporting and cultural activities and growing vegetables, including where job opportunities are created for unemployed youth in their communities.
Our mission is to develop empathetic, reflective, and socially responsible master teachers for South Africa’s public schools in rural and township communities. We invite you to contribute directly to helping a young aspiring teacher to gain the skills, values and practical experience required to change the face of education in South Africa. Any donation will be welcome however if you are able to, a once-off donation of R3000 and/or monthly donation of R150 will guarantee a monthly stipend and/or an internet data bundle for one Future Leader, respectively.
