Isabelo feeds 1500 young children (in the Franschhoek valley nr Cape Town) every school day with a warm breakfast and lunch. Because no child can learn on an empty stomach.
Started in 2009 by world renowned Chef Margot Janse, Isabelo focuses on the crucial issues surrounding child malnutrition in our country. Most primary school kids arrive each day having not had breakfast and whilst government provides food for lunches, it's not necessarily nutritious and sometimes there's not enough to go around. Isabelo provides porridge oats and eggs for breakfast so the kids start the day with full tummies.
For the pre-primary schools the staff are solely reliant on the parents to provide a lunch box for their child (unlikely) and so again that's where the Isabelo team step in. We supply the crêches and nurseries with breakfast and lunches for the children.
We rely on generous donors (both individual and corporate) to support us in this important cause. Now YOU can make a real difference:
R9 / € 0,50 / 50p = 1 Breakfast for 1 Child
R18 / € 1 / 90p = 1 Lunch for 1 Child
Thank you.
