
Did you know? 42% of children have experienced some form of maltreatment (whether sexual, physical or emotional). There are an estimated 3.7 million orphans in South Africa.
We would like to ask you to support our Family Strengthening programme. Your support will enable us to do the following:
For vulnerable children
- Assess their individual needs and screen for risk & safety
- Enable them to access essential services, through providing short-term food parcels, assisting with documents (like birth certificates), and helping them access social grants
- Support children to go to school by helping with school uniforms, stationery and school transport
- Provide pyscho-social and therapeutic development services (like individual counselling, group counselling and support groups)
- Facilitate family reunification for orphans and child-headed household
- Provide child abuse awareness and prevention training
For parents & caregivers of vulnerable families
- Assess the family’s needs
- Enable them to access essential services such as assisting with documents (like identity documents), helping them access social grants and providing short term food parcels
- Provide pyscho-social and therapeutic development services such as counselling and family conferences
- Offer training workshops in Parenting Skills and Financial Management
- Refer eligible parents to income generating projects
For the community:
- Conduct awareness events around issues affecting children such as Child Protection Week, Human Rights Day, Women’s Day, 16 days of activism for no violence against women and children, and World AIDS Day
- Conduct training in child protection – like the “Let Your Light Shine” community parenting course
- Facilitate the establishment of a community network of child protection organisations
Your once off or monthly donation will pay for:
- Salaries for our essential staff (Social Worker, Auxiliary Social Workers and Project Manager)
- Stipends & transport for Child & Youth Care Workers
- School uniforms, stationery and school transport
- Interim food parcels
- Transport to visit families
- Transport, materials and refreshments for counselling & support groups
- Materials and refreshments for training workshops
- Materials and refreshments for events
- An annual Christmas party & gifts for every child or teen in our programme
