ELRU has a goal to raise enough funds to distribute 1 000 000 meals to children and families in need while also providing sanitisers, bar soap and masks. To achieve this, we need your help.
FOOD EMERGENCY FUND
We are working together with Rise Against Hunger in the distribution of food, to Khayelitsha, Langa, Lavender Hill, the West Coast and surrounds. • R100 will provide 35 meals • R1 000 will provide 345 meals • R2 500 will provide 862 meals.
Meals from Rise Against Hunger contain a mix of fortified rice-soy, dried vegetables and a nutritional supplement. This is cooked with water and served hot. A single serving costs R2.90. It is filling and provides a child with sufficient nutrients for an entire day whilst boosting immunity against illness.
A large percentage of children in the poorest areas are already malnourished and this immediately places them in a high-risk category. By contributing, you can potentially prevent serious illness or even death in families.
SANITATION FUND
An EFT towards the purchase of high-quality cloth masks and hand sanitisers will facilitate efforts to slow the curve and contain the virus.
ELRU invites you to join our 100Club. The idea is for friends and supporters of ELRU to donate R100 — or more if you can afford to give more. These funds will be used towards our COVID-19 Food Emergency Fund and Sanitation Fund. Every contribution counts, big or small.
