Christel House operates nine learning centers around the world of which the school in Ottery (Cape Town) is the only one in Africa. Learners are transported daily (Mondays to Fridays and some Saturdays) from areas such as Khayelitsha, Langa and Manenberg using 18 school buses for the daily return trips.
On average, our busses travel 800 km per month to transport our students. To ensure that we give more children the opportunity to attend Christel House, we would require an extra bus to serve new communities. We have 755 students enrolled for 2018, all of which come from 20 impoverished communities in Cape Town. Help us break the cycle of poverty by donating today.
The school has a holistic K-12 education model that focuses on strong character development, complemented by regular health care, nutritious meals, guidance counselling, career planning, family assistance and college and careers support. Through this structured approach, it breaks the cycle of poverty and transforms the lives of hundreds of underprivileged children ever year.
Children born into poorer communities have little to no access to transportation and have a bleak chance of experiencing life outside of these communities. At a very young age, these children are introduced to high unemployment, lack of opportunities and poor quality schools. The Christel House model seeks to give those children, whose families are living below the poverty line, a chance for a better life.
You can help by donating funds to purchase a school bus to assist with the daily return trips of these students. A 100% of all donations benefit Christel House's holistic human development programs and SA donors are eligible to receive a tax-deductible 18A tax certificate for the value of their contributions.
As an accredited level 4 B-BBEE contributor, businesses can receive BEE points for their donations.
