This Mandela Month we would love to be able to put 83 mobile devices (ideally tablets) into the hands of our Matric learners to keep them learning.
Even though many of our schools have reopened for Matrics, the reports that we are hearing is that they are closing for some of the days as teachers test positive, and there is absenteeism from school as learners fear becoming infected themselves. We have been providing the Matrics with online support since lockdown, but many of them are sharing devices with family members or have basic phones with small screens.
We would like to give each of our enrolled learners a tablet (that can support wifi and a sim card) to connect them to datafree learning platforms, to provide a place for them to connect to university students who are willing to provide online tutoring support through whatsapp groups, and to ensure that they are enrolling for their next steps of further studies where possible.
