South Africa has an accountability gap. We are a non-profit newsroom that exposes wrongdoing, empowering people to hold power to account.

But we cannot do it without you. Public donations are our biggest source of income. AmaB Supporters understand that investigative journalism is not a copy-and-paste job. It takes real time and money.

And our work is more than just stories. We develop investigative journalism as a field for the entire media. We develop best practice, help other journalists do it, and advocate for the information rights that are the lifeblood of our field.

Donations big and small make you an amaB Supporter. You can select to make your donation recurring – better for our sustainability – or once-off.

AmaB Supporters get:

  • A warm feeling. You are building open, accountable, just democracy.
  • A certificate
  • A subscription to our free newsletter alerting you to our latest stories
  • Invites to our townhall discussions where journalists, experts and the audience interact

To get these benefits (warm feeling apart) do not tick “anonymous donation” and provide correct email and postal addresses when donating.

For our independence and transparency, donations above R10 000/year must not be anonymous, are subject to vetting and will be declared on our website. No donations from government entities or corporates please.

Donations are tax-deductible. If you supply your correct email and physical or postal addresses when donating, we shall send you a section 18A certificate after our March 31 financial year-end.
