Foetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS) is the leading cause of mental disability in South Africa and in the Western Cape, we have the highest reported statistics in the world. Early Years Services recognised the need for a national service provider that will raise awareness on FAS and substance abuse in the communities of South Africa.
Our approach is to:
- Create AWARENESS as a preventative measure and early warning system;
- Assist with RESOURCES for rural and outlying areas with access to limited resources for children to learn and play, through our toy libraries and resource centres.
- Offer accredited TRAINING to ECD practitioners to include and respond to the individual needs of all children and to improve the quality of life for young children affected by FAS and Substance abuse.
By developing and improving the ability of ECD practitioners, educators and parents to include and respond to the individual needs of all children, EYS aims to improve the quality of life for young children affected by FAS and Substance abuse.
Help Early Years services address this issue affecting our communities.
