To those who give,

As Founding Executive Director of The Sprightly Seed NPC, I write to request your assistance in the rollout of non-perishable food and hygiene packs to 450 families in need.
The national lockdown has placed tremendous strain on communities and we have to stand together across sectors to alleviate some of the pressure this unprecedented situation is having on the vulnerable.

The Sprightly Seed traditionally runs food garden programmes at educational facilities across poor communities in the Western Cape. Currently we are shifting our focus to the families of the children enrolled at our centres. When all educational facilities were shut down on the 15th of March 2020, so did the nutrition programmes these centres were delivering. In most cases, the provision at school was the only nutritious meal available to the 450 children being served each day.

Located in Lavender Hill, Nyanga East, Mfuleni, Kalkfontein and Mitchell’s Plain, these already food insecure families are in a desperate situation. Living hand to mouth, this lock down requires us to step up and be the hand that meets the basic needs which they now cannot.

With your support we will be able to procure, pack and distribute food and hygiene packs to the families from the schools their children are enrolled at. This means the 7 projects listed below will become the distribution stations facilitated by The Sprightly Seed staff.

The Projects Include:
1. Ark Christian School – Mfuleni
2. Seawind Educare – Lavender Hill
3. Charlene’s Angels Pre-school – Lavender Hill
4. New Beginnings Educare – Kalkfontein, Kuils River
5. Masakhe ducare – Nyanga East
6. Ulutho Educare – Tafelsig, Mitchells Plain
7. Val’s Educare – Beacon Valley Mitchell’s Plain

Each identified family will receive one food and one hygiene pack, calculated based on governments’ necessities list covering 1 family for a 1 month period. Packs will contain dry, non perishable goods, household cleaning and hygiene supplies for one month.

The Sprightly Seed staff will procure and pack all hampers and deliver them to each of the 7 distribution points. The project will communicate with each of the families allowing one family member to collect on specified days and times so as not to overwhelm the collection process and ensure that hygiene protocols are followed. The Sprightly Seed will facilitate the collection through a hygiene protocol and supply each project with face masks, gloves and hand sanitizer.

As a registered non-profit company with Public Benefit Organisation and Section 18A status, we will be able to supply individuals and companies with Section 18A certificates for their donation to this COVID-19 Emergency Relief Campaign. As an organisation we hold an EME Level 2 BBBEE certification and a level 1 certification for our beneficiaries.

Budget Forecast can be found below.

As this is an emergency funding campaign, it is within the interest of these families that we act swiftly. Should you wish to support the initiative; all funds donated here will be deposited into our business bank account. Every little bit helps!

Your consideration is sincerely appreciated. Please don’t hesitate to contact us for any further information or queries you may have.

In Gratitude,
Jade Orgill
