The Play Ball Foundation invests in schools in high need communities to provide equitable access to team sports opportunities to empower middle school youth. The Play Ball Foundation was founded in 2006 to “get more feet on the field” in Boston middle schools. Since that time Play Ball has expanded to include six cities (Boston, Lawrence, Holyoke, New Bedford, Lynn & Salem) to address inequitable access to school-based sports programs. Play Ball partners with our communities to create and run middle school sports leagues for students, where their classmates are their teammates and their coaches are their teachers. Currently, The Play Ball Foundation programs funds over 4,100 students annually in six school districts we fund. Sports leagues for both boys and girls include soccer, baseball, volleyball, flag football, cross-country, cheerleading, track, tennis, basketball and wrestling. Funds raised through the BAA Boston Marathon Official Charity Program will directly support Play Ball’s programming within our partner communities. The Play Ball Foundation is honored to be a member of the BAA Official Charity Program for the third year in a row.
