The Nevis Historical & Conservation Society was incorporated in1980 as a non-profit, non-governmental organization. As set forth in its First Amended Articles of Association, the Society was organized, and has continued to operate for the past four decades, to achieve the following specific objectives:
• The Protection, Preservation, Conservation and Restoration of Historical and Archaeological Sites, Buildings and Monuments on the island of Nevis.
• The Protection and Preservation of the ecology and of all-natural life forms in and surrounding the island of Nevis.
• The Collection and Preservation of Books, Manuscripts Records, Archaeological Objects and Works of Art, including the establishment of a museum designed to portray and/or exhibit the culture and history of Nevis.
• To engage in activities, including the solicitation of donations and/or bequests, in Nevis or elsewhere, with a view to raising funds for the pursuit of all or any of the above-mentioned objectives.
